Data released by the World Steel Association shows that crude steel production across 69 countries and regions covered by its statistics stood at 141.8 million tonnes in February 2026, a year-on-year decrease of 2.2%.
In February 2026:
Crude steel output in Africa was 2.0 million tonnes, up 4.7% year-on-year.
Production in Asia and Oceania amounted to 105.3 million tonnes, down 1.9% year-on-year.
The European Union (27 countries) produced 9.8 million tonnes, a year-on-year drop of 3.6%.
Other European countries recorded 3.4 million tonnes, rising 3.1% year-on-year.
Output in the Middle East was 3.7 million tonnes, up 0.1% year-on-year.
North America produced 8.5 million tonnes, an increase of 0.5% year-on-year.
Russia, other CIS countries and Ukraine generated 6.0 million tonnes, down 10.5% year-on-year.
South America produced 3.1 million tonnes, falling 7.7% year-on-year.
In February 2026, estimated crude steel production in China was 76.09 million tonnes, down 3.6% year-on-year.
India produced 13.60 million tonnes, up 7.7% year-on-year.
The United States produced 6.50 million tonnes, rising 5.8% year-on-year.
Japan’s output stood at 6.40 million tonnes, unchanged from February 2025.
Russia’s estimated crude steel output was 5.00 million tonnes, down 10.2% year-on-year.
South Korea produced 4.80 million tonnes, up 0.2% year-on-year.
Turkey generated 3.00 million tonnes, rising 3.4% year-on-year.
Germany produced 2.80 million tonnes, up 4.8% year-on-year.
Brazil produced 2.50 million tonnes, down 5.7% year-on-year.
Iran’s estimated output was 1.70 million tonnes, a year-on-year decrease of 1.3%.
