Pilot Project of Rare Earth and Critical Metal Aluminum Alloys Officially Settles in Laibin
On March 26th, the cooperation signing ceremony of the pilot application platform project for rare earth and critical metal aluminum alloys was successfully held in Laibin Industrial Park. Guangxi Tiancheng Aluminum Industry Co., Ltd., Guangxi Tiancheng Runhua Light Alloy Co., Ltd. and the School of Resources, Environment and Materials of Guangxi University reached a strategic cooperation and jointly built the "Pilot Application Platform for Rare Earth and Critical Metals in Aluminum Alloys", injecting new vitality into the transformation of Guangxi's aluminum industry towards high-end, intelligent and green development.
It is understood that the pilot platform will focus on key directions such as rare earth modification technology, high-conductivity aluminum alloy R&D, high-purity aluminum alloy preparation technology, heat-treatment-free alloy development and reverse extrusion process optimization, striving to solve the "pilot obstruction" problem that hinders the transformation of scientific and technological achievements from the laboratory to the actual production line, and promote the rapid engineering and industrial application of scientific research achievements. According to the plan, the platform is expected to achieve breakthroughs in 2 to 3 key technologies and realize the pilot transformation of related achievements in 2026; by 2027, it will strive to be selected as an autonomous region-level manufacturing pilot platform, build a regional-level testing center and strive for a national-level platform, and create a first-class pilot incubation and achievement transformation highland in China.
"The core purpose of building this pilot platform is to open up the innovation chain of in-depth integration of industry, university, research and application, and make scientific and technological achievements truly take root," said Ke Wei, general manager of Guangxi Tiancheng Aluminum Industry Co., Ltd. He added that the enterprise will give full play to its own industrial advantages, focus on solving various bottlenecks in the transformation of scientific and technological achievements, promote the efficient landing and application of key technologies, and help the high-quality development of the aluminum industry.
At present, the security of critical metal resources and independent technological innovation have risen to an important national strategy. As an important aluminum industrial base and a rich area of critical metal resources in China, Guangxi's promotion of in-depth integration and development of aluminum-based materials with rare earths and critical metals is not only an inevitable path for the transformation and upgrading of the local aluminum industry, but also a practical action for the three parties of industry, university and local government to jointly cultivate new quality productive forces and promote high-quality industrial development.

The School of Resources, Environment and Materials of Guangxi University stated that the university will fully integrate its own advantageous resources and platforms, rely on the college's strong faculty and scientific research strength, and carry out all-round in-depth cooperation with Guangxi Tiancheng Aluminum Industry Co., Ltd. and Guangxi Tiancheng Runhua Light Alloy Co., Ltd. in terms of scientific research innovation, talent training and industrial application of rare earth and critical metal aluminum alloys.
